Illustration Friday "Opinion"

It's been a while since my last post so I thought I'd throw up a sketch of Bigfoot from my sketchbook and submit it to this week's "Illustration Friday" topic "Opinion". I've been watching shows recently talking about monster topics like "Bigfoot" or "aliens" or "abominable snowman" and my opinion of these have gone back and forth. But, you know what, it really doesn't matter what my opinion is… either Bigfoot is real or he isn't, and my opinion doesn't change that. But I know what is real, this drawing. It's real.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody. I'm thankful for pencils which allow me to make drawings like these. And I'm thankful for erasers so I can fix my mistakes. And I'm thankful for my scanner and Photoshop so I get my drawing onto the computer. And I'm thankful for Blogger and the internet which allows me to share my beautiful drawings with the whole world!

And I'm thankful for those who don't take my comments about Bigfoot seriously.

New Online Store

Hello, again. I've been trying out different methods of creating an online store, and I have another one here. I've created a store at Zazzle.com. I think it has a much better interface than CafePress, and there are much better customizable options for products and store appearance. Plus, there's no upfront costs on my part, which is a big plus.

Below is a preview of Christmas cards that I've created for you to buy. You know you want to. You can access this awesome store here.

Hot Chocolate Mouse

Here's your typical Christmas illustration depicting a mouse stirring yummy hot chocolate with a candy cane. Mmmmm. I think my last several posts have something to do with food.

You can buy this illustration as a card at my new CafePress shop here.

Update: I am submitting this illustration to this week's Illustration Friday. The theme is "Pretend". I think it's pretty obvious that we're all pretending that a mouse would actually take the time to stir and savor hot chocolate. I think he would just dive right in (after devouring the candy cane).

Below is a detail.

Illustration Friday "Wise"

This is an illustration that I'm planning on using as a promo piece for my illustration services. It would be very "WISE" to hire me.

Holiday Card time

It's that time of year: time to seriously consider your holiday card choices. This is an extremely important decision, probably a decision much more monumental than the one you just made a few days ago regarding who you want to be your new president. This is HUGE! Just think of all your friends and family scrutinizing you when they receive your card in the mail. It has to be perfect. And, in order to assist you, I have assembled my Christmas selection for you to browse. I just opened an online card shop at Cafe Press. Click here. I'll be working on the aesthetics of the site in the coming weeks, but for now feel free to buy as much as you like.

5-Year Anniversary

It's my wife and I's 5-year anniversary today! This is the card I made her. I may have to explain it a little: Probably my favorite snacks in the whole world is peanut butter toast with sliced bananas. Yum!! I have it nearly every day for lunch. Rayna always teases me about it. So, a few days ago I was pondering great anniversary card ideas while partaking in this wonderful treat, when the idea struck me. I think she found it funny. I think a lot of wives would find it insulting to be depicted as a banana on an anniversary card. Not Rayna. I'm a lucky man! As for the text, I was listening to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Don't laugh, I like that soundtrack. (The actual quote is "How wonderful LIFE is now you're in the world". I think my version works just as well)

I'm liking this illustration and the color. I think I may use it for an illustration promotional. I have to do a little work on it. The banana's right foot looks a little fat compared to the left, and I want to lighten her eyes. And, of course, I'll change the text.
